Wedding Flowers, Check
Finalized everything with the florist!
While planning this wedding, Christian and myself have tried to incorporate as many people and businesses as we know, and include places to which we have ties. Our centerpieces are blue antique mason jars from Dave’s Antiques – a fabulous little antique store just past Seven Springs. (Please do yourself a favor and stop into his shop). It turns out, Dave grew up with my aunt and uncle, and therefore knew my grandparents. My grandparents have been gone a long time and I’ve been trying to find ways to bring their memories into the wedding since they were such important figures in my life. I’m wearing my Grandma Hellen’s jewelry that my dad gave to her as a gift for the wedding, and now when we look at the centerpieces we’ll remember her as well.
We weren’t familiar with any florists, like we were with our photographer (see the story about Greg Tar here), so we looked around for a place that was close by. And then I felt so silly because we pass Weischedel Florists ALL the time. I mean for years! So one day I called them and scheduled a meeting with just myself and the florist. She was so sweet and I felt totally confident in her guiding me through this process. She asked questions to prompt my thoughts and feelings on certain things and then made suggestions, allowing me to ultimately decide on what I wanted. We were so excited to have a German family business, providing the flowers for our German wedding. It’s the little things for me people. There’s something about a shared background that is meaningful to me.
In March I was to call again and schedule a final meeting to go over and solidify all of the details. My mom and fiancĂ© were both able to come and they were thrilled to see what we had chosen. Mom brought the sash from her dress to use in my bouquet and we picked ribbon to match the other dresses for my Maid of Honor and Flower Girls – I guess they’re more Junior bridesmaids than Flower Girls at this point. Mom also brought some happy tears for the occasion. It was sweet and we are so happy with the florist. You can see their site here.
I’m not going to give too much away before the wedding, but I will tell you that one of the flowers is going to blue hydrangeas – the flower my aunt grows at her house where we stayed when we got engaged.
