Squishy Souvenirs from the Honeymoon
When Your Husband Let’s You Go in Not One But Two Yarn Stores!
This Christmas will be extra fun thanks to the squishy souvenirs I picked up on the honeymoon! I love stopping into local yarn stores and these two did not disappoint. The people were fabulous. The yarn was beautiful. All around it was a super fun experience.
After that last night, which was a long night for me…we climbed back into the tacoma and continued south to Asheville North Carolina. We were staying about 25 minutes further south in Brevard (right outside of Pisgah National Forest) but we wanted to grab some food and check out the city again.
Walking around we found lunch at a little vegetarian cafe, where Murphy almost jumped on our table twice trying to save us from a carpenter bee. Then walking back to the car we spotted a yarn store! Jackpot right! I went in just to look but found some great yarns that I plan to use to make some thank you gifts for people that really helped us on our honeymoon!
Check out the Squishy Souvenirs!
The store was Purl’s Yarn Emporium.
Snagged a loverly linen yarn from Juniper Moon that I cannot wait to turn into a shawl/bandana scarf for a certain someone special that really helped in planning and setting up our wedding and making our day so incredibly special. She deserves more but this is a start 🙂
The following two yarns from Debbie Bliss, which are sadly discontinued are also for gift projects. I am so excited to work with this yarn that I’m all a twitter over which to do with it – what kind of knitted goody to make and how to do it!!! Anyone have any suggestions? I’m thinking about trying a new pattern to publish with these two but I’m getting a bit stuck with all of the fun choices! Maybe I’ll make this one into a half circular shawl!
After stopping in Asheville we continued on to the Bike Bungalow in Brevard, North Carolina where we met Virginia – the sweetest host I’ve ever met. Virginia got us settled in and then gave us a recommendation for some dinner and where to find groceries for the morning. Her recommendations were spot on for the whole trip – and she even rode with us the one day to show us the trails. We biked for two days and then spent some time recovering through exploring the beautiful little town of Brevard.
Brevard has an adorable little main street area full of shops – but you need to get there early because they close early…like 6pm everyday. We got there around about 10-11am and had a great time shopping and walking Murphy around the town. Chris and I stumbled upon a little yarn shop and I had so much fun getting to chat with the owner and her friends, and exploring her yarns. This store was the Sun Dragon Art and Fiber. I love the way she had her shop set up. When you walked in, she had her “pretty wall” the hand dyed and art yarns, and then the rest of the store was arranged by weight. We picked a few more skeins here and were on our way again. I went a little out of my comfort zone and picked some brighter sockweight yarns here.
