Love for the Trail Hiking Hat
Receiving photos and updates from knitters who have tried the Trail Hiking Hat
Confession time: This is the first year that I have really gotten into designing patterns like the Trail Hiking Hat, and sharing them with you. I mean really gotten into it with sharing multiple patterns. I’ve shared a few before but this year was a big step for me.
So when someone sends in a question and an edit to one of the patterns I’ve published it means the world to me. Firstly, it means that someone liked the pattern enough to try it, and secondly they liked it enough to work through an error in the pattern!
This was the case with the Trail Hiking Hat Knitting Pattern and a new friend, Laura. Laura reached out through the website after noticing an error in my pattern and patiently allowed me to fix it. A few days later, Laura sent me another email, this one containing a photo of the hat that she knitted using the pattern! Its lovely!
One of the exciting things about publishing a pattern (beyond the nerve tingling excitement that you just created something for the world to see) is when people show you what they made using that pattern – what yarns they used and in which colors. Laura’s hat was made from more subdued tones than my bright acrylic colors and it has a wonderful effect.
I have many of these same patterns published on sites like Love Knitting, but on those sites, I miss out on the connection with the knitters and feel very removed. If you’ve downloaded one of my patterns, or snagged it off Knitting in the Park, I’d very much love to see what you’ve created and chat with you about the pattern.
Hearing what you liked and what you really didn’t like, will help me to create better patterns in the future! I know that I’m also not the only one who has dreams of new patterns and then spends time thinking about how you can make it work, how you can make a pattern for something – but its hard to know where to start. If you’re interested in creating your first patterns, I’d love to connect with you. In fact, I’ve even got a template that you can use to get started.
Thanks for taking another look at the trail hiking hat!
