Knit Front Slip Back
A simple yet elegant increase method for your knitting patterns
In a pattern that was released by Darn Good Yarn, I’ve used the Knit Front, Slip back increase method. This is a simple method, perfect for the Pi Shawl where there are a lot of increases! When you click the link, use code “knittininnorthpark15” for a 15% discount on the pattern/kit.
The knit front slip back or KFSB, is a bit less noticeable when working in stockinette stitch verses garter, making it a good skill to have. This will come in handy more than a few times over your knitting life.
To learn this stitch, first take a look at the Knit Front and Back increase method. You can find a post on this here.
In this method, you knit the stitch as normal, leave it on the left hand needle, and knit it again through the back.
To Knit Front, Slip Back
Knit the stitch as you would normally. Leave it on the left hand needle. Bring your right hand needle around to the back as you would for the KFB increase method. Instead of knitting the stitch through the back however, simply slip your right hand needle through the back of the stitch. Now you can transfer the knit stitch and the slipped stitch to your right hand needle. This results in one new stitch.
