Caliper Cable
How to knit the beautiful Caliper Cable
The caliper cable isn’t new but it’s definitely growing in popularity. It’s popping up in scarves and hats around the fiber community. I’ve started using it more in my hats to break up the cables and add something unique.
The caliper cable looks more difficult than it is to knit, and after a little while you’ll totally get the hang of it. It can be worked in the round or when knitting flat which makes it pretty versatile.
6 Stitch Caliper Cable Instructions:
In the Round:
Round 1: K1 wrapping yarn twice, k4, K1 wrapping yarn twice
Round 2: C1F, K2, K1 from Cable, C2B, K1, K2 from cable
(Optional 3rd Round to spread out cables)
Worked Flat:
Row 1(Wrong Side): P1 wrapping yarn twice, P4, P1 wrapping yarn twice
Row 2(Right Side): C1F, K2, K1 from Cable, C2B, K1, K2 from cable
There are lots of ways to edit this cable, wrapping the yarn three times around your needle and using an 8 stitch repeat would be one simple way. It all depends on your project, and your creative needs.
