You Blue Me Away
What a little bit of paint can do to brighten up your home!
When we bought our little 1960’s ranch home, we knew that it was the perfect home for us, in the perfect location (Nestled right on the edge of North Park). I also knew right way, that there were a few cosmetic changes that I wanted to make to brighten it up, let it shine and make it feel like the house was truly ours. This past weekend, upon our return from our family beach vacation, we tackled another update – and the results of this one are brilliant…brilliant blue, a You Blue Me Away, Blue
Before!
Curb appeal is important to us. In this, our first home, we are proud of the little family that we are starting and we want our space to reflect us rather than someone else’s aesthetic. So we stopped into our locally owned paint store, Colorize of Pittsburgh, to pick out the perfect color of Benjamin Moore paint. My dad has used Benjamin Moore in our homes for decades, and it has always stood the test of time (and the torture that us kids put it through). The other reason we love this store is the ultimate customer service. Yes, you can bet the paint we love from other places, but you most certainly will not get the knowledge, expertise and service that Regis and his team will give to you.
We walked in and met with Regis Flaherty right away, explained our project and for his guidance. He walked us through our options as far as paint, and then he worked with us to find a color that would coordinate with our personality, and that of the home, matching the brick and the new roof that we just put on the home. Regis had a thoughtful answer for all of our questions, often asking one or two more questions to gain the information that he needed to accurately respond to us. The whole experience of picking a paint color was both exciting and enjoyable. Can you say that about the last time you picked paint?
After!
Finally, he blew us away. I mean we loved the store and the experience before, but then he went the extra mile. While the paint “Don’t Step on My Blue Suede Shoes” was mixing, we talked to Regis about a paint conundrum that we have been having. We picked a beautiful shade of blue for the half bath off of our master. Its tiny, so we needed a dose of color that was beautiful, light but subtle. Beacon Grey was perfect for the bathroom, but when we tried it in the bedroom, with softer light, dark furniture and a ceiling that needs painted (further down the road), it looked like a totally different color. He listened to us, looked up Beacon Grey and Lily White, the other sample I’ve tried. Regis thought for a bit, looked up some information and then suggested that we try mixing a custom color.
Did you read that. We have a custom color for our bedroom that is a perfect blend in between the shades we had previously tried. And then he saved it in their computer system under Schott Blue, so that it’s available to everyone! We were blown away at the attention to detail, the amount of effort he invested in us, the prices (which are untouchable) and the fact that a custom color was no additional charge. We’ll be going back to Regis again and again for our painting needs!
Regis, you blue us away for sure! You can bet that we’ll be back again!
