Easter Knits – Dishcloths
In Bright Spring Colors!
With everything that we have going on right now (fixing up the house a bit, getting married in less than 25 days, traveling this weekend for another wedding – oh and work!), I haven’t been getting much time to knit. Nor have I had much energy to come up with any new patterns of my own.
So rather than fall into a depression, I searched for a quick project and found some bright, cheerful yarn (and bought few skeins too many, as per usual). I decided to whip up some washcloths, or in this case Easter Themed Dishcloths.
This Easter is special for two reasons:
1. It’s two weeks before we get married so this time in general is very special.
2. This is the first time I’ve ever been able to host Easter – and it’s the first Easter in our new home together. Everyone keeps saying don’t worry, we’ll help out…we’ll bring X, Y or Z. I don’t think they get how hard I’m nesting right now!
The Diamond Brocade Dishcloth
This one’s loverly pattern that can be found here. The Diamond Brocade dishcloth taught me that easy to knit dishcloths don’t have to be simple or boring. This one was a series of knits and purls, to form a loverly diamond texture. It was I think a series of 8 rows that were easy to repeat. This one could easily be turned into other patterns – and I think I might try it again soon!
The Daisy Dishcloth
This pattern can be found here. This pattern was also surprising. When I first watched the video, I thought man that looks a bit tough and I’m just looking for something simple. But it turns out, that the stitch was easy to master and fun to work. It’s so fun in fact, that I’m turning it into a chunky scarf right now with some spare bits of Knit Picks Mighty Stitch that I have been debating what to do with. It’s such a happy thing when you find inspiration and a use for stash yarn.
What’s Next
Next I’m going to make a basket weave dishcloth – inspired by Easter Baskets! I made a version of this for the knitted coasters pattern, but this one is going to be full size for a dishcloth. The great thing about cotton dishcloths and washcloths is that they can also be used doilies and trivets (for low to medium heat rather than hot stuff fresh out of the oven).
