Cozy Cabin Shawl
Simple, Sweet, and Oh So Soft
The Cozy Cabin Shawl is a simple yet oh so beautiful, triangular shawl for those chilly evenings that you just can’t wait to spend in front of a fire, curled up with a glass of wine. Using a combination of stockinette and garter stitches, and make one rights and lefts for the increases, this is a relatively beginner friendly pattern.
This particular shawl was designed as a Christmas gift – and I hope you if you’re making it for someone as a gift that they love it every bit as much as I do.
Tools:
Yarn: Hygge – 3 skeins. I found this at both Joann Fabrics and Michaels. I love the softness and how it feels against your skin. The yarn is also machine washable on cold and a gentle cycle, making it easier to love, and wear.
Needles: US Size 10 circular needle (it’s worked back and forth so yes, a straight needle would work, but it would get very heavy).
Garter Tab Cast On:
This cast on might seem a little bit technical but it helps to create the top of the shawl and maintain the garter stitch border at the top. Below are both the written instructions for this pattern, and demo video from my youtube channel.
Cast on 3 STS
Knit 6 rows, turn the work 90 degrees, pick up and knit three stitches.
Turn the work again, and pick up and knit three more stitches.

Why the Cozy Cabin Shawl?
This is a super soft and oh so snuggly garment. It’s great for lounging on the couch, warming up in front of the fire, or sneaking a few pages in bed. It’s a simple triangular shape, with Make One Rights and Make One Lefts as increases.
This shawl pattern has been recently updated as of May 2019 – rearranging these make ones and lefts for a better detail in the shawl’s border as well as the center stitch.
The Cozy Cabin shawl uses garter ridges to give a bit of simple yet elegant texture. They also kind of remind me of the logs in my parents house, which is also where I got the name for this shawl.
